Kenya Tourism Board Launches Domestic Sales Campaign Targeting Northern Circuit
The Kenya Tourism Board (KTB) has launched the Hapa Ni Wapi Sales Conversion Campaign, a structured domestic tourism initiative aimed at driving bookings and bed nights to lesser-known destinations across Kenya. The campaign was flagged off in Samburu, with the Chalbi Desert and Northern Kenya circuit serving as the first destination, ahead of a progressive rollout to Mambrui - Malindi, Western Kenya and other underexplored regions. More than 50 tour operators from the Tour Operators Society of Kenya (TOSK) and the Kenya Association of Tour Operators (KATO) are participating in the inaugural activation.
The initiative forms part of KTB's broader target of growing domestic bed nights from 5.15 million recorded in the 2025/26 financial year to 5.6 million by 2027, with a focus on converting travel interest into confirmed bookings through affordable, ready-to-book packages developed in partnership with tour operators and county governments. KTB CEO June Chepkemei noted that improved road infrastructure across Northern Kenya would open up destinations previously considered difficult to access, while TOSK Chairperson Raymond Cheruiyot welcomed the campaign as a practical framework to address longstanding barriers of pricing and access in the domestic market.
