Kenya has been selected to host the 37th International Air Transport Association (IATA) Ground Handling Conference (IGHC) in Nairobi from 13–15 May 2025—the first time the event will be held in Africa. Organised in partnership with Kenya Airways, the landmark conference underscores Africa’s expanding aviation capabilities and is expected to attract global industry leaders, including Kenyan President William Ruto, IATA Director-General Willie Walsh, and Kenya Airways CEO Allan Kilavuka.

IGHC 2025 will focus on modernising ground operations, workforce development, and improving collaboration across the aviation value chain. As part of IATA's wider Focus Africa initiative, the event aims to strengthen operational standards on the continent while creating industry-wide economic opportunities. For travel professionals, enhanced ground handling translates into improved customer experience, greater connectivity, and a more resilient travel ecosystem.
