Kenya terminates Sh238bn JKIA modernisation deal with Adani Group
Kenya Airports Authority has confirmed that the government has terminated the Sh238 billion agreement with India’s Adani Group for the proposed upgrade and modernisation of Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi. The project will not proceed, and the High Court has set 6 May 2026 for a mention of the petition for further directions.
The decision raises questions over the future of airport infrastructure financing in Kenya – including the role of foreign investors – and potential implications for air travel, route development and passenger experience at the country’s primary gateway.
