Kenya tasks new envoys to market tourism worldwide

Kenya is equipping newly appointed ambassadors, high commissioners and consuls to promote the country’s wildlife, landscapes and cultural heritage to global audiences. In a session led by Tourism Cabinet Secretary Rebecca Miano in Nairobi on 26 January 2026, envoys were briefed to use diplomatic missions to open doors for destination marketing and trade – part of a wider push to grow international arrivals.

The strategy leverages bilateral initiatives to diversify products and source markets – including the Swahili Coast Cultural Corridor with Tanzania to showcase shared coastal heritage, specialised eco‑tourism collaboration with Indonesia, and positioning Kenya for medical tourism from the Democratic Republic of Congo. Officials said the approach aims to lift Kenya’s international profile, deepen cultural links and convert interest into bookings and investment.
