Kenya Targets Australian Market with New Tourism Campaign

Kenya has launched a strategic tourism campaign to attract Australian travellers, aiming to boost international arrivals from this key market. Speaking at a stakeholder engagement in Melbourne, Cabinet Secretary for Tourism and Wildlife, Rebecca Miano, highlighted the strong historical ties between the two nations and Kenya’s diverse tourism offerings, including wildlife, coastal attractions, and cultural heritage. In 2024, Kenya recorded 27,396 visitors from Australia, a figure the government hopes to increase through strengthened tourism links and targeted promotions.
During her visit, Miano will meet leading Australian tour operators and engage with the Kenyan diaspora as part of the “Ziara Kenya: One Diaspora, One Tourist” initiative, which encourages diaspora communities to promote Kenya as a travel destination. She also emphasised the role of sports tourism in raising Kenya’s profile, citing the Kenya 7s rugby team’s participation in the Perth 7s as a valuable promotional opportunity. With Australians spending over USD 41.4 billion annually on international travel, Kenya is positioning itself as a top choice for adventure, culture, and hospitality.
