Kenya–China Season closes – tourism visibility and skills boost

Kenya and China closed the 2025 Kenya–China Culture and Tourism Season in Nairobi on Tuesday, highlighting tourism outcomes including expanded destination visibility in China through live coverage of the Wildebeest Migration and a new media content‑sharing agreement, the launch of a China–Kenya Film Festival, and training in China for 131 Kenyan professionals across tourism, culture and heritage. Officials said the six‑month programme has strengthened market access and product development ahead of the 2026 China–Africa Year of People‑to‑People Exchanges.

Organisers cited events such as the Kenya Wushu National Championship, the Africa Championship of Chinese Cuisine and the China–Kenya Friendship Games as catalysts for sports and culinary tourism, while heritage collaboration – including the Sino‑Kenya Palaeolithic Archaeological Project around Lakes Baringo and Bogoria – is set to enhance cultural sites and museum offerings. “Tea diplomacy” initiatives linking Kenyan and Chinese tea masters aim to create co‑branded products, with ongoing institutional partnerships expected to support marketing, skills development and visitor servicing to grow demand from the China market.
