Kenya Airways Replaces Legacy Booking System in Major Technology Overhaul
Kenya Airways is replacing its two-decade-old reservations and ticketing platform as part of a significant overhaul of its commercial and digital operations. The national carrier has selected US-based travel technology firm Sabre to provide a new operational backbone built on the Sabre Mosaic platform, covering bookings, ticketing, inventory management and airport check-in. Kenya Airways is also partnering with travel technology and consulting firm Branchspace to develop the customer-facing digital commerce layer, which will serve as the airline's primary digital touchpoint from the start of the rollout.
The transition moves Kenya Airways away from a traditional booking model towards a modern airline retailing approach, enabling personalised fare and ancillary service packaging in line with the International Air Transport Association's New Distribution Capability standards. Rather than a single disruptive switch, the carrier will adopt a modular, staged implementation - allowing individual components to be introduced progressively before the full transformation is complete. Passengers can expect improved self-service tools, enhanced Asante Rewards functionality, real-time rebooking capabilities and more tailored booking experiences across digital channels. The overhaul supports Kenya Airways' broader ambition to grow direct sales and ancillary revenue as it expands its network of 42 global destinations, 35 of which are across Africa.
