Jean-Guy Afrika Named CEO of Rwanda Development Board
Rwanda’s President, Paul Kagame, has appointed Jean-Guy Afrika as the new CEO of the Rwanda Development Board (RDB), effective 13 January 2025. Afrika succeeds Francis Gatare, who now serves as Senior Economic Advisor to the President. Known for his expertise in public policy, regional integration, and export promotion, Afrika brings decades of experience to the role, as Rwanda seeks to solidify its position as a top investment and tourism hub in Africa.
Afrika’s appointment comes at a pivotal time for Rwanda’s tourism strategy, with the RDB playing a central role in driving economic growth and international competitiveness. Having previously held senior roles at the African Development Bank and the East African Community, he is well-positioned to advance Rwanda’s tourism infrastructure, attract investment, and enhance its global profile in leisure and business travel. With a track record in policy reform and export development, his leadership is expected to further strengthen Rwanda’s appeal to investors and travellers alike.
