ITA Airways has inaugurated a new nonstop flight between Rome and Dakar, Senegal, marking its second sub-Saharan African destination. The inaugural flight landed at Dakar-Blaise Diagne International Airport on 3 July, welcomed with a water arch salute.

The new route, operated four times weekly using an Airbus A321neo, aims to boost commercial and cultural exchanges between Senegal and Italy. The A321neo, featuring three cabin classes and state-of-the-art technology, offers reduced fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.

Emiliana Limosani, ITA Airways' Chief Commercial Officer, highlighted the flight's role in the airline's summer network expansion. Senegalese Ambassador to Italy, Ngor Ndiaye, praised the route's potential to enhance bilateral relations and tourism.

The Rome-Dakar connection is part of ITA Airways' growing network, which now includes 57 destinations for the summer season. This expansion reflects the airline's strategy to strengthen its presence in Africa and cater to both leisure and business travellers. The new flight schedule allows for convenient connections, departing Rome in the afternoon and returning from Dakar late evening.
