Serengeti Balloon Safaris in the Lamai Wedge

With the wet conditions in the region, the Mara River is currently uncrossable at Kogatende and this may be the case for much of the peak season in 2024. To ensure your clients can still fly with us we have come up with an alternative, available only when the river crossing is too dangerous to use.

Serengeti Balloon Safaris is delighted to inform you that we are able to offer our first-class service from the Lamai Wedge (north of the river) in 2 ways:

1. Shared balloon flights are available for minimum 6 pax on inducement and subject to availability. We will collate guests to reach the minimum but we ask you to give us 2-3 days flexibility to enable us to collate bookings. Please email for a quote and availability

SEASON: 5 July – 15 November ONLY AVAILABLE WHEN KOGATENDE CROSSING IS CLOSED

2. Private charters are available and we have been flying them in the Lamai Wedge for 2 seasons now. Prices depend on group size, please email for a quote and availability.

SEASON: 30 Jun – 15 November AVAILABLE ON REQUEST

When the crossing is open, we still recommend and ask that all northern Serengeti guests (including those staying in the Lamai Wedge) fly from our normal launch site (Kogatende) on the south bank of the river for the best overall flight path .

Bookings for these flights can be made directly with your safari lodge, via your DMC or with the SBS bookings team (http://[email protected])
