Gorongosa National Park, Mozambique – October 2025

Gorongosa Safaris continues its storytelling journey with the release of The Language of Tracks, the second episode in its Beyond the Safari film series.

This short film explores the ancient art of tracking, a language once spoken widely across Africa but now kept alive by a very few, including Gorongosa’s skilled trackers. Through their eyes, viewers follow the trail of a lion pride across the floodplains and forests of the park, uncovering how each footprint, sound, and subtle shift in the wind becomes a clue in nature’s great conversation.vc

As dawn breaks, the first light reveals the clues left behind from the night before. Tracking becomes a puzzle, each step offering a new piece of the story. What begins as a quiet search for signs soon turns into a thrilling moment as the team unexpectedly crosses paths with a herd of elephants - a powerful reminder that, in Gorongosa, nature always dictates the pace.

“Tracking is an awe-inspiring skill to witness,” says Doug Flynn, CEO of Gorongosa Safaris. “In the age of artificial intelligence, what a privilege it is to experience the timeless wisdom of natural intelligence. It reminds us how much there is still to learn from the wild.”

Walking safaris are at the heart of the Gorongosa Safaris experience, inviting guests to slow down, look closer, and reconnect with the rhythms of the nature that surrounds them. In a world where we are increasingly separated from nature, walking with Gorongosa’s skilled guides allows you to rediscover the ancient language of tracks - as each step becomes a lesson in awareness and connection.

Shot and edited by the in-house Gorongosa Media Team, The Language of Tracks continues the series’ mission to reveal the deeper meaning behind Gorongosa’s conservation story. Like Episode One in the Beyond the Safari series, it celebrates people and place, told by those who live and protect this wilderness every day.
