The Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) has launched a new Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Department to foster deeper collaboration between government and private stakeholders in the tourism sector. Speaking at the launch in Accra, GTA CEO Maame Efua Houadjeto described the initiative as a strategic step towards aligning tourism policy, investment, and sustainable development. Grounded in Section 42 of the Tourism Act 2011, the new department will serve as a platform for co-planning and co-investing in projects that promote Ghana’s tourism potential.

Jones Aruna Nelson, appointed as Director of the new PPP Department, reaffirmed the GTA’s commitment to transformative initiatives such as the Black Star Experience, with emphasis on cultural promotion, eco-tourism, and innovation. The launch event also introduced Bright Asempa Tsadidey as the new Director of Corporate Affairs, who pledged to drive Ghana’s global tourism image through stronger communications and stakeholder engagement. The move has been welcomed by the private sector, with the Ghana Tourism Federation (GHATOF) pledging its full support to strengthen Ghana’s appeal as a competitive destination through joint action and investment.
