Ghana has announced a new partnership with World Aviation Group (WAG) to launch a national airline, marking a renewed attempt to establish a sustainable carrier headquartered in Accra. The venture aims to develop a modern fleet, build international alliances, and position Kotoka International Airport as a strategic West African hub. With a focus on responsible travel, the proposed airline will prioritise fuel-efficient aircraft and eco-friendly operations, aligning with growing global demand for sustainable air travel.

WAG brings industry experience in airline startups and airport development, supporting the venture’s credibility. The plan targets key high-demand routes such as Accra-Lagos, Accra-London, and Accra-Dubai, with projections of over 670,000 annual passengers. While financial and operational challenges remain—underscored by Ghana’s past airline failures—the government’s backing, WAG’s expertise, and Accra’s expanding infrastructure provide a promising foundation. The airline’s development holds significant potential for African travel agents, offering increased connectivity and expanded itinerary options.
