The Gambia officially opened its 2025/26 tourism season with the arrival of Gambia Experience’s inaugural flight, which landed at Banjul International Airport on Saturday with 189 tourists from the UK. The flight was welcomed with traditional music and cultural performances, attended by Minister of Tourism and Culture Abdou Jobe, the Gambia Tourism Board (GT Board), and the British High Commissioner, marking what officials hope will be a strong and vibrant season for the destination.
Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Jobe stressed the need for collective effort across all sectors to promote the country’s appeal, citing The Gambia’s safety, climate, heritage, and hospitality as key draws. GT Board officials and UK representatives highlighted the growing popularity of the destination among British travellers, reinforced by its beaches, cultural richness, and warm welcome. The tourism season is pivotal to the Gambian economy and continues to focus on attracting broader international interest.
