FlySafair Cuts Fuel Surcharge for Second Consecutive Week

FlySafair has reduced its temporary fuel surcharge for the second week running, reflecting a modest easing in Jet A1 fuel prices following the spike caused by the Middle East conflict. Despite the consecutive reductions, Jet A1 pricing remains more than double pre-conflict levels, and the surcharge - which applies to all new bookings on applicable routes - will remain in place until 21 August 2026.

The levy is reviewed and adjusted weekly in line with pricing received from the airline's fuel supplier, and varies by route to reflect actual fuel consumption. Chief Marketing Officer Kirby Gordon reaffirmed that the surcharge is not a revenue mechanism, stating it moves directly in line with actual fuel costs. Passengers with existing bookings made before the surcharge was introduced in March will not be retrospectively charged, though the levy will apply if an existing booking is changed to a departure date within the surcharge period. Updated surcharge amounts per route are published weekly.
