Etihad to resume Abu Dhabi - Johannesburg flights from 15 June

Etihad Airways will resume its service between Abu Dhabi and Johannesburg from 15 June 2026, operating three times weekly. The route restoration reinstates direct connectivity between South Africa and the UAE hub, reconnecting travellers to Etihad's wider international network.

The resumption follows the airline's suspension of scheduled commercial services in March, after escalating regional tensions and airspace closures across parts of the Middle East disrupted operations. Etihad has since gradually rebuilt its network, with the airline reporting that more than 80% of services have now been restored. Flights on the reinstated Johannesburg route are available for booking through Etihad's sales channels and GDS.
