Etihad Airways opens new gateway to Kenya with launch of Nairobi flights
Etihad Airways has officially launched its new service connecting Abu Dhabi and Nairobi, marking a significant step in the airline's expansion strategy. The inaugural flight, which departed on December 15, 2024, reflects strong travel demand between the UAE and Kenya, supporting tourism and economic ties. This service is operated four times weekly on Airbus A320 aircraft, linking Abu Dhabi's attractions like the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque to Nairobi's unique offerings such as Nairobi National Park.
The new route aligns with Etihad's growing African footprint, joining destinations like Johannesburg, Cairo, and Casablanca, with plans for more expansion in 2025. The service also responds to Kenya’s rising tourism ambitions, targeting three million visitors in 2024 and five million in subsequent years.
