Ethiopian President Urges National Carrier to Maintain Global Aviation Edge
Ethiopian President Taye Atske-Selassie has called on Ethiopian Airlines Group to sustain its global competitiveness during an official visit to the airline's facilities in Addis Ababa. The president, who also serves as Patron of the Ethiopian Quality Award Organisation, commended the carrier's recent First Level Excellence Trophy win at the 12th National Quality Award competition, describing the airline as a pillar of Ethiopia's economic development and a vital link connecting the country to the world. "There are few organisations that can compete with Ethiopian Airlines not only in aircraft and operations but also in institutional culture," he said.
Group CEO Mesfin Tasew briefed the president on the airline's operational performance and long-term strategic direction, outlining a sustainability strategy built on four key pillars covering growth, operational excellence, and environmental and social responsibility. Tasew reaffirmed the airline's commitment to expanding its international route network as part of a broader push to strengthen its global presence. The visit underscores Ethiopia's confidence in its national carrier as a driver of economic growth and international engagement, even as it operates within a volatile regional environment.
