An Ethiopian cultural troupe of 70 performers is set to depart for China on 20 July, marking the first leg of a global tour aimed at promoting Ethiopia’s rich cultural heritage. The initiative, supported by the Government Communication Service and Ministry of Culture and Sports, will showcase traditional arts, music, dance, attire, cuisine, and handicrafts across multiple countries, with the objective of enhancing Ethiopia’s cultural diplomacy and international profile.

Officials say the tour is designed to deepen people-to-people relations while supporting efforts to attract tourism and investment. State Minister Tesfahun Gobezay highlighted the role of art in shaping national image, while Culture and Sports State Minister Nebiyou Baye noted this as a key opportunity to share Ethiopia’s diverse heritage with new global audiences.
