Ethiopian and Etihad link loyalty programmes to expand member benefits
Ethiopian Airlines has launched a reciprocal loyalty partnership with Etihad Airways, linking ShebaMiles and Etihad Guest effective October 2025. Members can earn and redeem miles across both programmes with aligned recognition for premium tiers across the carriers’ global networks, supporting growing connectivity between Africa and the Middle East as Etihad begins services between Addis Ababa and Abu Dhabi.
ShebaMiles counts more than 5.38 million members across four tiers and Ethiopian remains a Star Alliance carrier with extensive partner links. Etihad Guest serves over 12 million members across five tiers, including Emerald, and partners with 26 airlines – the largest portfolio outside an alliance. The partnership extends flexibility via both airlines’ flight and non‑air partners, including banks, hotels and car rental, offering greater choice for frequent travellers.
