Ethiopian Airlines to Launch Daily Durban - Addis Ababa Service from December
Ethiopian Airlines will launch a daily non-stop service between Durban's King Shaka International Airport and Addis Ababa from 11 December 2026, operated on a Boeing 737 MAX. The new route provides KwaZulu-Natal with a direct link to one of Africa's major aviation hubs, with onward connections to destinations across Africa, Europe, Asia, the Middle East and North America - including London, Paris, Frankfurt, Mumbai, Delhi and Washington.
The service follows sustained collaboration between Durban Direct, aviation and tourism stakeholders, and government partners as part of a broader route development strategy to improve air access to the region. KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs, Rev. Musa Zondi, described the route as "a major milestone" for the province, noting that improved air connectivity would support tourism arrivals, airfreight and investment, while opening greater access to global markets for local businesses.
