Ethiopian Airlines Group has taken delivery of the first of two DHC-6 Twin Otter Classic 300-G aircraft from De Havilland Aircraft of Canada Limited, marking the type's introduction into the African carrier's fleet. The aircraft is configured for multi-purpose operations including charter services to tourist destinations, airport calibration, aerial surveys, and air ambulance missions. The acquisition supports Ethiopian Airlines' strategy to expand domestic connectivity and improve access to remote communities and tourism destinations across Ethiopia.

The Twin Otter Classic 300-G combines the aircraft's proven short takeoff and landing performance with a modern Garmin G1000 flight deck, upgraded cabin seating, enhanced electrical systems, and improved cockpit ergonomics - retaining the rugged reliability required for operations in challenging environments. Ethiopian Airlines Group CEO Mesfin Tasew said the aircraft would complement the airline's existing domestic services and underscored the carrier's commitment to promoting tourism and essential air connectivity. De Havilland Canada Vice President of Sales and Marketing Ryan DeBrusk noted the type's versatility and proven track record in remote operations as key factors in its suitability for the diverse missions Ethiopian Airlines will undertake across the region. A second aircraft from the order is still to be delivered.
