Ethiopian Airlines signs food waste recycling MoU
Ethiopian Airlines on 23 February 2026 signed a Sustainable Food Waste Recycling memorandum of understanding in Addis Ababa with Provectus Enterprising Inc. and Fusion Global Solutions to convert food and catering waste from its operations into biomass and other environmentally friendly products. The initiative is designed to support circular economy practices and reduce the environmental footprint of airline catering.
The signing was witnessed by Cheryl Urban of Global Affairs Canada, highlighting international collaboration on sustainable aviation solutions. As Africa’s largest aviation group, serving more than 160 passenger and cargo destinations across five continents, Ethiopian said the partnership aligns with its Vision 2035 strategy and broader efforts to embed sustainability across its expanding pan‑African network.
