Ethiopian Airlines resumes Port Sudan route
Ethiopian Airlines has reinstated services to Port Sudan, resuming a daily Addis Ababa – Port Sudan operation from 15 October 2025 and set to increase to double daily from 1 November. The move strengthens regional connectivity in Northeast Africa at a time when the Red Sea hub has limited international services due to instability elsewhere in Sudan.
Operating via Addis Ababa Bole International Airport, the route provides same-day connections to more than 130 international destinations and is expected to support trade, humanitarian operations and diaspora travel. Port Sudan – the country’s principal seaport – has remained comparatively stable and continues to serve as a key entry point for aid agencies and diplomatic missions, underscoring the route’s strategic value for business and travel recovery.
