Ethiopian Airlines marks International Women’s Day with all-women flights to eight destinations
Ethiopian Airlines marked International Women’s Day on 8 March 2026 with all-women operated flights to eight destinations – Cairo, Djibouti, Nairobi, Frankfurt, Accra, Mumbai, Windhoek and Dire Dawa – coinciding with the carrier’s 80th anniversary. The initiative was announced at a 7 March event at the Ethiopian Skylight Hotel in Addis Ababa, covering key regional and long‑haul gateways relevant to tourism flows.
Women currently represent about 40% of the airline’s workforce, and Ethiopian has operated all-women flights for International Women’s Day annually since 2015. This year’s eight services symbolised eight decades since the airline’s first scheduled flight in 1946 to Cairo, underscoring ongoing efforts to broaden women’s participation across flight operations and leadership.
