Ethiopian Airlines Launches Direct Service to Hanoi

Ethiopian Airlines has launched its first direct passenger service to Hanoi, Vietnam, operating four times weekly from Addis Ababa. The new route, which commenced on 10 July 2025, strengthens air connectivity between Africa and Southeast Asia, marking the airline’s 20th passenger destination in Asia.

Mr. Mesfin Tasew, Group Chief Executive Officer of Ethiopian Airlines, commented on the new service saying, “We are truly delighted to start passenger services to Hanoi, a city of great cultural and economic significance. This new route not only supports our vision of connecting Africa to the world but also serves as a bridge for enhanced cooperation between Africa and Southeast Asia. With our modern fleet, award-winning service, and vast global network, we are confident that this route will facilitate growing tourism, business, and people-to-people ties between Vietnam and the African continent.”

Ethiopian Airlines is also exploring future cooperation with Vietnam Airlines to further enhance network reach. With a fleet of over 140 aircraft and membership in Star Alliance, the carrier continues its strategy of growing intercontinental connections from Africa.
