Ethiopian Airlines H1 revenue up 14% to US$4.4bn
Ethiopian Airlines has reported first‑half revenue of US$4.4bn for the Ethiopian fiscal year, a 14% year‑on‑year increase. CEO Mesfin Tasew said performance was driven by passenger services, cargo operations and fleet expansion. The airline carried 10.64 million passengers during the period and now serves 145 international destinations, including three newly launched routes.
The fleet has grown to 170 aircraft, including private jets, while cargo volumes reached 451,000 tonnes, reinforcing the carrier’s role in regional and global logistics. Ethiopian Airlines also generated US$2.5m from spare‑parts sales and invested 260 million Birr in community initiatives. Infrastructure work is progressing on the recently inaugurated Bishoftu International Airport project, which is expected to be completed by January 2027 – supporting long‑term capacity and connectivity across Africa.
