Ethiopian Airlines commits to 11 Boeing 737-8s to expand network
Ethiopian Airlines has committed to order 11 Boeing 737-8 aircraft, with the agreement signed at the Dubai Airshow on 17 November 2025. The additional 737 MAX jets are intended to support growth across the carrier’s regional and international networks and strengthen its Addis Ababa hub.
The airline, which operates Africa’s largest Boeing fleet and holds the continent’s biggest Boeing backlog, deploys the 737 MAX on routes across Africa, the Middle East, India and Southern Europe where quick turnarounds and frequency are key. The added narrowbody capacity is expected to enhance connectivity and reliability for inbound and intra-African travel.
