Ethiopian Airlines and Visa deepen partnership to streamline travel payments

Ethiopian Airlines and Visa have announced a strengthened collaboration to expand co-branded payment card offerings, aimed at delivering more seamless, secure, and rewarding payment experiences for travellers across Africa and beyond. The renewed partnership will focus on driving greater adoption of Visa co-branded cards, with joint initiatives spanning booking, payment, loyalty services, and broader customer engagement. Visa's Cluster Head for Eastern Africa, Yared Endale, said the tie-up reflects a shared priority: "Travel and payments are intrinsically linked, and this collaboration reflects our shared commitment to simplifying how customers pay and travel."

The agreement builds on a long-standing relationship between Africa's largest airline group and one of the world's leading digital payments networks, with Visa's global infrastructure expected to strengthen cross-border transaction reliability for both regional and international travellers. Ethiopian Airlines, which serves more than 145 destinations with a fleet of over 170 aircraft, continues to expand its footprint as a dominant force in African aviation. Group Marketing Vice President Rahel Assefa said the airline remains focused on accessibility: "Our collaboration with Visa aims to further enhance payment options for our customers and increase convenience during every payment."
