Ethiopia to Host Africa Climate Summit and UN Climate Week 2025

Ethiopia will host two major climate conferences in September 2025: the Second Africa Climate Summit (ACS2) and the second UN Climate Week of the year (CW2). Held consecutively from 1–10 September at the Addis International Convention Center, these events are expected to draw thousands of delegates from governments, the private sector, development partners, and civil society. With the themes focused on climate finance, Africa-led solutions, and implementation of global commitments, both gatherings aim to position the continent as a decisive voice in shaping the global climate agenda ahead of COP30 in Brazil.

The events are expected to significantly boost conference tourism in Addis Ababa, with demand concentrated in the city’s premium hotel corridors and venue clusters. The alignment of CW2 and ACS2 highlights Addis Ababa’s growing appeal as a venue for international policy summits, underpinned by strong logistics, a diplomatic base, and partnerships with African and UN institutions. Outcomes from the meetings are also expected to generate opportunities in sustainable investment, clean energy, and nature-based tourism across the continent.
