Ethiopia Showcases Tourism Potential at London Media Event

Ethiopia is strengthening its global tourism outreach following a dedicated media showcase in London on 14 May. The Africa Travel Show Media Event, hosted by the Ethiopian Embassy in partnership with the Ministry of Tourism and Africa Travel Connect, brought together over 40 UK-based journalists and travel professionals to spotlight the country’s cultural heritage, landscapes, and emerging tourism offerings. Ethiopia's Tourism Minister Selamawit Kassa, speaking virtually, emphasised the country’s commitment to sustainable tourism as a key pillar of national economic growth.
The event follows the April signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between Ethiopia and Africa Travel Connect to enhance international tourism promotion through media engagement and strategic partnerships. Representatives from Kenya, Ghana, Rwanda, and South Africa also attended the London event, underlining the importance of regional collaboration in positioning Africa as a competitive global destination. Ethiopia aims to attract more than 2 million international visitors annually by 2030, presenting fresh opportunities for African travel professionals to develop compelling itineraries and tap into growing interest in authentic and sustainable African travel experiences.
