Ethiopia Eyes Czech Aviation Partnership to Boost Tourism Access
Ethiopia is exploring potential collaboration with Czech industrial group Omnipol to strengthen its aviation capabilities in support of tourism development. The initiative follows the country’s participation in the Prague exhibition of the iconic hominid fossils Lucy and Selam. During a visit to Omnipol's facilities, Minister of Tourism Selamawit Kassa reviewed small aircraft models designed to improve access to remote destinations, with the goal of expanding tourism infrastructure and promoting lesser-known sites.
The talks built on established aviation ties between Ethiopia and the Czech Republic and focused on strategic integration of aviation services into Ethiopia’s broader tourism plans. Omnipol, with over 80 years of experience in aviation and defence, expressed interest in supporting Ethiopia’s efforts to enhance connectivity and visitor experience. The visit also capped Ethiopia’s cultural showcase in Prague, which attracted international attention and further highlighted the country’s historical and scientific significance.
