Eritrea upskills Asmara International Airport staff
Eritrea’s Aviation School has completed a year-long theoretical and practical programme for 63 staff at Asmara International Airport, covering security awareness and systems, radio and equipment maintenance, flight control and meteorology. School director Simon Araya said ongoing capacity building – using local expertise and visiting trainers – is essential in a dynamic sector, while airport director general Bereket Berhane stressed the training’s direct link to passenger and aircraft safety.
Separately, 80 officials in the Hagaz Sub‑Zone received training in administration, leadership, financial management and documentation to strengthen service delivery. The skills initiatives point to sustained investment in aviation operations – supporting safe, reliable connectivity and the overall visitor experience.
