Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) is partnering with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to promote Uganda as a tourist destination through its embassies and consulates abroad. The initiative aims to equip diplomatic staff with in-depth knowledge of Uganda's attractions to effectively market the country.

A recent four-day familiarisation trip to Queen Elizabeth National Park was organised for 15 Ministry staff, led by Connie Nuwagaba. The group experienced wildlife drives, salt mining, and a cruise on the Kazinga Channel, gaining first-hand insights into Uganda's natural beauty.

Lilly Ajarova, CEO of the Uganda Tourism Board, emphasised the importance of embassy officials having up-to-date information on Uganda's tourism offerings. She called for support in branding and marketing efforts, noting past successes in bringing potential investors to assess the country.

The Department of International Economic Cooperation will play a key role in promoting economic initiatives and partnerships supportive of Uganda's interests. So far, 10 missions and two consulates are participating in the programme, with plans for further engagement between UTB and the Ministry.
