Elephant Point River Suites to Open Near Kruger National Park in May

Legacy Group's Elephant Point River Suites, an ultra-luxury safari resort development within the Elephant Point wildlife estate opposite Kruger National Park, is set to open its first phase on 1 May 2026, following construction delays caused by heavy flooding in the Kruger region. Situated 6km from Paul Kruger Gate and 26km from Skukuza Airport, the development will comprise 60 individually owned luxury suites - available as simplex or duplex configurations - alongside a 5-star hotel, spa, boutique store, gym, padel and tennis courts, and an elevated restaurant overlooking a 25-metre swimming pool, boma space, and the Sabie River. Each suite includes a dedicated butler, private terrace with gas braai and firepit, and access to wildlife corridors designed to allow game to move freely around the property. The total development cost across both phases is approximately R700 million.

The River Suites adopt a "deconstructed" hotel model, positioning suites horizontally across the landscape rather than in a conventional multi-storey layout, with all guest transport handled by golf carts to preserve the tranquillity of the bush environment. Duplex suites feature 60-square-metre terraces with views over the Sabie River bank and wildlife corridors, where buffalo, zebra, hippo, and elephant have been spotted in close proximity to the development. Elephant Point, managed by Legacy Group and ranked among South Africa's top ten wildlife estates by New World Wealth, will expand its existing portfolio of privately owned lodges with the River Suites offering hotel-standard amenities within a premier Big Five wildlife setting.
