EgyptAir Takes Delivery of First Boeing 737 MAX
EgyptAir has taken delivery of its first Boeing 737-8, marking a notable milestone in the Egyptian national carrier's fleet modernisation programme. The aircraft, leased from SMBC Aviation Capital, is the first of 18 Boeing 737 MAX jets set to join the airline's fleet and represents the first 737 MAX to operate in Egypt.
The 737-8 will complement EgyptAir's existing fleet of 30 Next-Generation 737 jets, offering 20% improved fuel efficiency and reduced emissions compared to the aircraft it replaces. The new jets will be deployed on short- and medium-haul routes to destinations including Paris, Brussels, Istanbul and Vienna, and feature Boeing's Sky Interior with enhanced LED lighting, larger windows and improved cabin storage. The delivery builds on a 60-year partnership between Boeing and EgyptAir, which has operated the 737 family since 1975.
