Egypt Sends High-Level Delegation to Uganda to Boost Tourism and Investment Ties
A high-level Egyptian delegation comprising media figures, influencers, tourism stakeholders, actors and investors has arrived in Kampala for a 10-day familiarisation visit, organised by the Embassy of Uganda in Cairo. The initiative forms part of Uganda's Economic and Commercial Diplomacy strategy, which tasks diplomatic missions with attracting investment, boosting tourism flows and deepening bilateral economic engagement. The delegation includes prominent Egyptian actors Mahmoud Hemeida, Nabil Eissa and Sedqi Sakhr, whose presence is intended to raise Uganda's profile among Egyptian travellers and business communities through media visibility and cultural influence.
The programme features a curated cultural and tourism itinerary, including visits to the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Kasubi Tombs and Lubiri Palace, as well as a cultural gala dinner at the Ndere Cultural Centre. Beyond tourism, the itinerary extends to Uganda's agricultural value chains and investment opportunities, with a particular focus on agribusiness, food processing and hospitality - signalling Kampala's intent to attract Egyptian expertise and capital. Egypt, one of Africa's largest economies and a significant outbound tourism market, is regarded by Uganda as a strategic partner, with both countries seeking to expand cooperation into commercial and economic partnerships that could open the door to joint ventures and greater people-to-people exchange.
