Delta names Matt Long to lead Europe – Africa alliances

Delta Air Lines has appointed Matt Long as Managing Director for Alliances covering Europe and Africa, a move aimed at strengthening its trans‑Atlantic position ahead of what it expects to be its busiest summer schedule across the regions. Long will co‑ordinate commercial, operational and customer‑experience initiatives across 35 markets, working with regional teams and joint‑venture partners Air France‑KLM and Virgin Atlantic, reflecting the growing importance of Europe and Africa to Delta’s long‑haul strategy.

Based in Amsterdam, Long will support network growth – now exceeding 100 peak‑day flights across Europe and Africa, including recent expansions to Accra and Lagos – and help steer infrastructure and modernisation projects at Amsterdam, Paris‑Charles de Gaulle and London Heathrow. Described by Senior Vice President for Alliances International Perry Cantarutti as “a collaborative, forward‑looking leader”, Long joined Delta in 2013 and most recently led International Customer Experience Integration and Strategy.
