Cottar's Safaris and Nikoi & Cempedak Islands to Swap CEOs in Cross-Continental Leadership Exchange
Two of the world's 12 Long Run Accredited Global Ecosphere Retreats are set to undertake an unprecedented cross-continental CEO exchange next month. Louise Cottar of Cottar's Safaris in Kenya's Maasai Mara and Andrew Dixon of Nikoi and Cempedak Islands in Indonesia will each spend one month embedded within the other's organisation, stepping directly into day-to-day operations across conservation, community partnerships, and guest experience.
The initiative aims to bring external perspective, strengthen operational resilience, and identify opportunities to advance sustainable tourism practices within both businesses. Both properties hold Long Run Global Ecosphere Retreat accreditation — a distinction shared by only 12 properties worldwide — reflecting their commitment to the highest standards across conservation, community, culture, and commerce. Lessons drawn from the exchange are expected to shape future strategy at both organisations, while the two CEOs hope the initiative will also demonstrate the broader value of open collaboration between conservation-led tourism businesses.
