Comoros Strengthens Aviation Partnerships

The Comoros signed two memoranda of understanding (MoUs) with the civil aviation authorities of Singapore and Saudi Arabia during the 42nd Assembly of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) in Montreal. Led by the Director General of the National Agency for Civil Aviation and Meteorology (ANACM), Abdou Mondoha Abdillahi, the Comorian delegation sees the agreements as key to positioning the Indian Ocean Island nation as a regional tourism and trade hub through improved air connectivity.

In parallel, the delegation met with the ICAO Regional Director for East Africa to advance discussions on greenhouse gas emissions reductions and regulatory improvements following their 2019 audit, with 63% of corrective actions reportedly implemented. The ANACM also sought support to bolster technical capabilities, including flight crew certification and accident investigation. The engagement aligns with broader African participation aimed at amplifying the continent’s influence within ICAO, and took place alongside the ICAO Innovation Fair, which showcased aviation technologies under the theme “Global Horizons: Inclusive Innovations for Aviation.”
