Chimanimani’s Horoni Falls Emerging as New Tourism Sight in Zimbabwe

A natural attraction in Zimbabwe is drawing local attention as Horoni Falls, located along the Biriiri River in Chinamira Ward, Chimanimani, emerges as a promising addition to the region’s tourism landscape. Resembling the well-known Bridal Veil Falls, Horoni Falls is gaining popularity among domestic visitors – particularly church and youth groups – who are drawn to its secluded setting for spiritual retreats and nature excursions.

Despite its growing appeal, the site remains undeveloped, lacking basic infrastructure such as roads, toilets, and shelters. Calls for investment are mounting, with local voices urging government support to unlock its tourism value. The discovery aligns with Zimbabwe’s broader efforts to promote heritage and community-based tourism, a drive credited with contributing to a 4% rise in tourism revenue between 2023 and 2024 through increased domestic travel and rural exploration.
