Cathay Pacific to Boost Hong Kong-Johannesburg Flights from July 2025

Cathay Pacific will increase its flights between Hong Kong and Johannesburg to a daily service starting 1 July 2025. The airline currently operates five return flights weekly on the route, and the expansion responds to rising demand for travel between South Africa and Asia. Routes will continue to be served by Airbus A350-900 aircraft featuring Business, Premium Economy, and Economy classes, offering greater flexibility for both leisure and business travellers.
The enhanced schedule also boosts cargo capacity on the route, enabling the airline to meet growing demand for express shipments, including perishables and mail. With seamless onward connections through the Hong Kong hub to destinations such as mainland China, Japan, Australia, and New Zealand, the move strengthens Johannesburg’s air links to key Asian and Australasian markets. The update comes as part of Cathay Pacific’s HK$100 billion global investment into fleet, lounges, and digital upgrades.
