Cape Town's air links with London are set to dramatically increase for the 2024-25 South African summer season, boosting tourism and trade opportunities. Starting 10 January 2025, the number of weekly flights between the two cities will rise to 31, offering travellers unprecedented flexibility.

British Airways will lead the expansion, increasing its daily London Heathrow service to thrice daily by January 2025. This replaces its seasonal Gatwick flights, which will operate only during the peak holiday period in December and early January.

Norse Atlantic Airways will introduce a thrice-weekly service from London Gatwick from 28 October, while Virgin Atlantic extends its daily Heathrow flights until 30 April 2025 to capture Easter traffic.

The enhanced connectivity reflects Cape Town's growing importance as an African destination. The UK remains the region's top tourist market, with over 210,000 two-way passengers in the first half of 2024, up 7% from 2023.
