Cabo Verde Airlines inter-island services disrupted
Cabo Verde Airlines is grappling with fresh disruptions to its inter-island CVsky operations as the domestic unit awaits its Air Operator Certificate (CTA). Technical failures on the carrier’s two ATR 72-600 aircraft – about seven years old and dry-leased until end 2025 – have led to delays, cancellations and occasional aircraft substitutions, affecting schedule reliability across the archipelago.
The ATRs are the backbone of the domestic network linking multiple islands for residents, tourism and cargo, making the interruptions particularly impactful. The airline is deploying contingency measures, including substitute aircraft where possible, to maintain continuity, but the situation underscores the exposure of limited fleets in geographically dispersed markets and the importance of robust maintenance and strategic fleet planning as it develops its domestic footprint.
