Brussels Airlines launches direct Tanzania flights, lands 248 tourists at KIA

Brussels Airlines has officially launched direct flights between Brussels and Kilimanjaro International Airport, marking a significant boost for Tanzania's tourism sector. The inaugural Airbus A330-300 flight arrived on 3 June carrying 248 passengers and established a direct link between Europe and Tanzania's Northern Tourism Circuit, home to iconic attractions such as Mount Kilimanjaro, the Serengeti, and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Operating twice weekly, the new service is expected to make Tanzania more accessible to European travellers while strengthening tourism, trade, and investment ties between Tanzania and Belgium.

The route is expected to deliver a meaningful economic boost by increasing visitor numbers from key European markets, particularly Belgium, the Netherlands, France, and Germany. Tourism operators anticipate higher demand for safaris and adventure travel, supporting jobs across the hospitality, transport, and tourism value chain. The launch also strengthens Kilimanjaro's position as East Africa's premier safari gateway and forms part of Brussels Airlines' broader expansion across the African continent, where Tanzania becomes the carrier's 18th destination in sub-Saharan Africa
