Botswana Revises Operating Hours for Francistown Airport
The Civil Aviation Authority of Botswana (CAAB) has announced new operating hours for Phillip Gaonwe Matante International Airport in Francistown, effective 23 January 2025. The airport will now operate from 08:00 to 17:00 on weekdays, while weekend and public holiday hours will align with scheduled flight times. According to CAAB, the adjustment reflects current activity levels but ensures the facility remains equipped to handle scheduled, non-scheduled, and emergency flights as needed.
Located on the outskirts of Francistown, Botswana's second-largest city, the airport serves as a vital link to northern Botswana, supporting both domestic and limited international flights. This change is aimed at optimising resource allocation and streamlining operations without compromising service quality. The airport’s ability to accommodate non-scheduled and emergency traffic ensures continued reliability for both business and leisure travellers. Travel professionals should note this updated schedule when planning itineraries, particularly for clients connecting to popular northern attractions, such as game reserves and cultural landmarks.
