Botswana Implements 24-Hour Access to Sedudu-Ngoma Transit Route

The Botswana Ministry of Environment and Tourism has confirmed that the Sedudu-Ngoma transit route through Chobe National Park will be open 24 hours a day from 1 April 2025. The move aims to enhance regional mobility, particularly for travellers between Kasane and Namibia, while also supporting local economic activity. Previously restricted to limit wildlife disturbances and combat illegal activities, the extended access comes with reinforced safety and conservation measures, including increased patrols, improved signage, and public awareness campaigns.
As a key corridor linking Sedudu Gate near Kasane to Ngoma Gate at the Botswana-Namibia border, the route passes through a renowned wildlife area, requiring careful management to preserve its biodiversity. Authorities are working with stakeholders to ensure that conservation remains a priority while facilitating smoother transit. The initiative is expected to improve accessibility for visitors, reinforcing Chobe National Park’s status as a premier safari destination known for its abundant wildlife and scenic landscapes.
