Beachcomber Acquires Zanzibar's Zuri Resort in USD 79 Million Deal
New Mauritius Hotels Limited (NMH) has signed a Share Purchase Agreement to acquire 100% of White Sands Beach Resorts Limited, the owner and operator of the five-star Zuri Zanzibar resort in Tanzania, in a deal valued at approximately USD 79 million. The agreement was formalised on 23 June 2026, with completion expected by late September, subject to regulatory approvals. Following the transaction, the property will be rebranded under NMH's flagship Beachcomber Resorts & Hotels brand.
The acquisition marks a significant step in NMH's regional expansion strategy, broadening its Indian Ocean footprint beyond its existing portfolio of eight Mauritius properties, a Seychelles presence through Club Med, and luxury hotel operations in Morocco. "Zuri Zanzibar is widely recognised as one of the leading luxury hospitality destinations in Zanzibar," said Stéphane Poupinel de Valencé, Chief Executive of Beachcomber Resorts & Hotels, describing the move as decisive in strengthening the group's presence beyond its traditional markets. NMH also operates tour businesses in the United Kingdom, France, and South Africa, further reinforcing its integrated approach to luxury tourism across the region.
