Angola to finalise shift to AIAAN by 1 March
Angola will complete the transfer of airline operations from Luanda’s 4 de Fevereiro International Airport to Dr António Agostinho Neto Airport (AIAAN) in Icolo e Bengo by March 2026, airport operations and cargo director Soraia de Sousa said on Monday, 2 February. With Royal Air Maroc, Turkish Airlines and ASKY now operating at AIAAN, 99.9% of international transfers have been consolidated; the remaining move by South African carrier Airlink is scheduled for 1 March.
AIAAN has handled more than 188,000 international travellers to date, with ASKY operating six weekly flights and Royal Air Maroc and Turkish Airlines three each. Current carriers at AIAAN include TAAG – Linhas Aéreas de Angola, TAP, Emirates, Air France, Qatar Airways, Ethiopian Airlines and Lufthansa, with airport management citing plans to add more airlines, routes and services as demand grows, supported by larger infrastructure and alignment with international best practices.
