Air Tanzania Opens Direct Air Link Between Tanzania and Russia
Air Tanzania will launch direct flights connecting Dar es Salaam, Zanzibar and Moscow from 2 July, marking the airline's first-ever service to Russia and creating a new air bridge between the two countries. Announced by Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan during a visit to Russia, the route is expected to strengthen tourism, trade and investment ties while making it easier for Russian travellers to access Tanzania's popular beach and safari destinations.
The service will operate three times a week using Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft, with flights routing through Zanzibar before continuing to Moscow. The move comes amid growing interest from the Russian market, particularly in Zanzibar, and forms part of Air Tanzania's broader international expansion strategy. Industry observers believe the route could help boost visitor arrivals and deepen economic cooperation between Tanzania and Russia.
